My Tailor

My tailor is a beautiful character essay. The writer keeps into human nature. The writer has conveyed a serious idea in a light hearted manner. 

The story of the Tailor contains humour as well as pathos. But we feel sorry to learn that such a noble natured person also could not escaped death. People told Leacock that the professional and domestic worries of the Tailor had brought about his sudden death.

 Only then, the writer came to know that his Tailor was a married man with a wife and two daughters. He had religious mind and love of Music. But these aspects of the personal life of the Tailor remained hidden to Leacock during their thirty years of long relations. 

Leacock regrets that his relation with his Tailor reminded limited to their business dealing. He never tries to know the personal life of the man who had been serving him for the last thirty years. 

Thus he indirectly criticized the people of this materialistic age who have no time to take interest in the private affairs of their dear and near ones. Due to this mechanical relation between the people of modern age, there is a sense of loneliness and unhappiness.
