The Beauty Industry

The “Beauty Industry” by Huxley is very interesting and thoughtprovoking essay.
The author has presented a satirical and ironical estimate of the cult of beautification and the popularity of the cosmetics among the American ladies.
The write has pointed out its advantages and disadvantages. He admits that the Beauty Industry has rendered a value service to enhance female beauty.
It has finish facial ugliness among ladies.
Due to the use of beauty aids women with dark skin, wrinkle faced and grey hair is rarely seen.
The women retain youthful looks for longer period of life. It is very difficult to tell mother from daughter. Viewed in this respect the beauty industry appears to be a tremendous success.
But there is the other side of the picture also Huxley points out that human beauty is not merely a matter of face of skin. It involves in itself the beauty of mind and soul also.
Modern woman may be compared to a painted flower pot that looks very attractive outwardly but it is rough and repulsive internally.
Huxley believes that human race can not be made beautiful by concentrating on skin care only. We must take steps to enhance the mental beauty of the people and remove their spiritual discontent.
