Dr. Muhammad Omar Farooq, a professor at Dow University of Health Sciences Karachi, told VOA that there are some specific symptoms of allergies, but most patients do not understand the difference between seasonal flu and allergies, and allergy flu at home. Types of allergies in Pakistan
Dr. Haroon Iqbal said that the types of allergies in Pakistan vary according to the seasons, wild mulberry causes pollen allergy in Islamabad and sprays on crops and animal allergies in agricultural areas of Punjab.
There are 8 types of plants and trees in Islamabad that cause pollen particles in the air.
Paper mulberry tree produces the highest 97% pollen. Paper mulberry and other plants together produce pollen up to 45,000 per cubic meter in the pack season.
Dr. Omar Farooq said that allergies due to moisture are common in the areas around the sea in Sindh while allergies of their own kind are present in Sindh due to dry weather and cotton allergies are common in cotton season. ۔
Treatment of allergies
Experts say that there is no permanent cure for allergies, meaning that if you have any kind of allergy, it will stay with you for life. And if an allergy vaccine is not available, you can take precautions to reduce their severity.
Dr. Haroon Iqbal said that in case of air allergy, wear a mask. Don't wear clothes made of anything you are allergic to, as well as use jewelry and other items that make you allergic. Keep windows and doors closed and close the windows to avoid airborne allergies while traveling in a car.
Regarding masks, he said that people wear surgical masks which are not at all helpful in pollen and dust allergies. There is a specific type of mask for each allergy that is available in the market and only those masks can be useful in preventing allergies.
