From some Police Men and a Moral

In this essay the writer has ridiculed the typical mentally of the policemen of his country. Who are supposed to be custodians of law and the guardians of justice? They protect life, properly and honour of the people.
But it is generally observed that the policemen generally misused their powers and violate the rights of the peaceful citizen in the name of discharging their duty. They are always influenced by the social status of the so-called law breaker.

The writer has conveyed all these ideas by describing his title encounter with some British policemen. He was holiday tour of Yorkshire. One day he was wondering in a forest with a Swedish knife in his hand. He wanted to practice knife throwing.
He was trying to hit a tree from the distance. Suddenly two policemen appeared there and started interrogating him. Besides asking his name, profession address and religion, they put him certain absurd question. Finally he was charged of damaging a green tree.

They were in a mood to arrest him. When he told them that he was a poet and writer of detective stories, he was acquitted of the charge and was allowed to go away. The writer began to think, if the damaging of a tree was a serious offence why was he allow to go away.

The writer began to think, if the damaging of a tree was a serious offence why was he absolved of it by guardians of law. If it was nothing serious, then why was he disturbed.
