Super

It is an interesting short essay which has been written in an ironical tone. The writer has expressed his views on the use of the world, “Super” in his age of industrial progress.
According to the author the world “Super” means the best and superior.
It is use as prefix before a thing to the philosopher Nietzche was the first to use this word for men of extra ordinary qualities of head and heart.

Later on the English playwright Bernard Shaw illustrated this concept of superman in his Play man and Superman. After that the manufacturing community started using it for their products.
Thus we have super soaps, super cigarettes, super chocolate Geo super etc. These so called super things have eliminated the ordinary things from the market. The author regrets that there is a no attempt at producing super human beings in the modern age. Shaw’s superman does not exist. People do not feel proud of themselves. Since we live in the age of super thing and not super human beings.

This change from supermen to super things has made this world a duller place to live in.
