The Old Man & the Sea

Character of the Marlin:

Marlin is an important character around whom the whole story of the novel revolves. Santiago fails to catch the fish for eighty four days. 
He succeeds hooking a big fish Marlin on the eighty fifth day. The baited fish Marline is incredibly huge sized fish. It is clever and intelligent fish. It lives deep in the sea. It bites the bait but is very cautious in swallows it. Marlin is not a stagnant character. Its character changes according to the situation. The baited big fish is the symbol of man’s goal and destination. 
It gains much importance on the eyes of Santiago as the story of the novel goes on. It behaves in a gallant manner. It tows the skiff and fight bravely for forty-eight hours. It exhausted and tires the old man. It is injured but resists and struggles hard to save it life. Santiago knows that he needs supreme energy and courage to kill the unusually power and the brave fish.
